ஜான் நியூட்டன் (1725 - 1807) ஓர் ஆங்கிலிகன் போதகர். இவர் இங்கிலாந்தில் அடிமைவியாபாரத்தை ஒழிக்கப் பாடுபட்டார். இவர் இளம் வயதிலேயே வணிகக் கப்பல், கடற்படைக் கப்பல், அடிமை வியாபாரக் கப்பல் என கடலில் கப்பலிலேயே காலங்கழித்தார். அடிமை வியாபாரக் கப்பல்களில் பல நிலைகளில், பல ஆண்டுகள் பணிபுரிந்தார். அடிமை வியாபாரக் கப்பல்களில் பணிபுரிந்தவர் 1745ஆம் ஆண்டு, ஆப்பிரிக்காவில் ஓர் அடிமையானார். பின்னர் மீட்கப்பட்டு, அடிமைக் கப்பல்களில் மீண்டும் பணிபுரிந்தார். இந்த முறை மாலுமியாகப் பணிபுரிந்தார்.

ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசுவை விசுவாசித்து இரட்சிக்கப்பட்டபிறகு, நியூட்டனின் வாழ்க்கை முற்றிலும் மாறிற்று. அவர் அடிமை வியாபாரத்தைத் துறந்தார். சர்ச் ஆஃப் இங்கிலாந்தின் மதபோதகரானார். இவர் "Amazing grace" என்ற பாடல் உட்பட 283 பாடல்கள் எழுதியுள்ளார்.
