The guys at Riverbend are nothing if not hands on as you will see as we tour their facility and get a look at what goes into the production of local malt. North Carolina is the leading small-grain producing state in the Southeast. NC farmers produce barley, soft wheat, and hard wheat varieties across the state, but a majority of the barley production occurs in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.
