As members of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church, we unite our hearts in prayer with the persecuted Church, asking Our Lord Jesus Christ to strengthen, protect, and sustain all who endure hardship for His name.
In many countries today, Catholics and other Christians face discrimination, violence, imprisonment, and martyrdom simply for living the Gospel. We especially remember the faithful in North Korea, Somalia, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Eritrea, Nigeria, Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, India, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, China, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Vietnam, Laos, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Mexico.
United with the universal Church, we proclaim that Jesus Christ is the Light of the World, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Even in persecution, the light of Christ cannot be overcome.

Our Father in heaven,
we pray that You will shine Your light
in the dark places of despair.
Christ Jesus, Light of the world,
strengthen all Christians
who are persecuted because of their faith in You.
Every morning, we see Your goodness
and Your mercies, which will never come to an end.
Christ Jesus,
You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Give hope to all who place their trust in You.
Amen.
