Capitalization = Using a capital (big) letter.

Rule 1: First letter of new sentence.

Incorrect Example:
he really likes Jenny. she is a great person.

Correct Version:
He really likes Jenny. She is a great person.

Rule 2: Proper Nouns
Names of people, brands & famous/specific places (not ‘the shop/ the library’).
Names of books, movies, songs, other works of art.
Days of week, months, named holidays and famous events (but not seasons).

Incorrect Example:
I really like jenny. She is a great person, and so are her friends helen and bob. They all live in new york.

Correct Version:
I really like Jenny. She is a great person, and so are her friends Helen and Bob. They all live in New York.

Rule 3: First letter inside quotation marks (“”)

Incorrect Example:
President Roosevelt famously said, “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

Correct Version:
President Roosevelt famously said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

Rule 4: Cities, countries, languages and nationalities

Incorrect Example:
I studied french when I was in school, but I have never visited france.

Correct Version:
I studied French when I was in school, but I have never visited France.
