I Carved a Rock Into a Huge Water Bowl For My Bees!

My bees needed a nearby water source, so I decided to make one. This bee waterer was carved out of a chunk of local granite using a masonry blade on my circular saw, a 4" angle grinder, a hammer and a chisel. The bees love it!

To answer your questions:

1. No, the bees don't drown. It was installed all last season and I saw maybe 2 or 3 dead bees in it per week. They quickly learned how to land on the edge and crawl down to the water.

2. It's really big. It holds about 5 gallons of water and it's flushed out and refreshed every 3-4 days. It didn't go dry all last year, even in the full sun.
