Описание к видео The Future Of Connecting Flexible Hoses To Valves?!

Welcome back to the channel on today’s video I’m going to show you a new way of how we can install flexible hoses onto isolation valves.

For many years people have been tightened and down these hoses straight onto isolation valves which are actually designed for a nut and olive connection. This means that the internal edge has a bevel and isn’t flat so when the washer screws down onto it is a very low surface area for the washer to sit against. What happens a lot is that people tighten it down and it cuts straight into the rubber which can cause a bit of a flood.

What people don’t realise is at the surface area that they’re tightening down onto is actually the very edge. It’s not what they think of being in the middle. It’s a very very edge of the washer that actually comes in contact with the face of the valve. Hopefully this little insert should be able to fix this issue.

There are many other ways of doing this. You can fit a male to iron fitting with a short bit of pipe but the problem is with this it can bring the connection up too high so if you have really long flexible houses you wanna be able to get these down as short as possible, so you’ve got less chance of King in and putting tight bends into the hose which can also cause a rupture at later date.

You can also get these type of fittings which has a brass stub that goes internally onto a nut and olive connection I don’t know how I feel about this as I have heard of stories where because the brass is hard the nut and olive connection doesn’t squish down enough and in some cases when people use old radiator valves because that surface is shiny and chrome this can be quite slippery and actually cause them to blow off at mains pressure.

The product I’m showing you is a little insert with a rubber earring which Seal is in place of a nut and olive so you remove them out the way push this insert into any isolation valve so you don’t have to worry about buying specific flat face. Because the answer is Shafford that brass edge also sits nicely against the bevelled edge on inside of the valve. Now I like to use these butterfly valves as the customer is able to switch these on and off themselves without using any tools and they don’t leak through the middle when you touch him with a bladed screwdriver like the cheap type. They also allow more copper inside the fitting so that gives a better surface area for a nut and olive to tighten down onto.

I really think that this could be the future of the way that we connect up especially our taps or even toilet connections up to valves flexible hoses can make things a lot easier but only when they’re connected up correctly . Let me know what you think down below if you like today’s Plumbing video please give it a like subscribe if you are new and I’ll see you on the next one!
