A Tribute To Ruffian (version 2)

Описание к видео A Tribute To Ruffian (version 2)

Redone version of my Ruffian Tribute.
If you want, it can be watched in high quality.

Basically the same length, footage, pictures, music and information but a little smoother overall.

Ruffian was a filly, born April 12, 1972 at Claiborne Farm, Kentucky.
She descended from winning horses and soon proved her own speed and determination by winning her maiden race in record time and by 15 lengths.
She remained undefeated in all her starts and was ahead in her final race.
She won the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Two-Year-Old Filly, which earned her the nickname "Queen of the Fillies". She set many stakes and track records and was the only undefeated three-year old of 1975.
Her final race, against the colt Foolish Pleasure, was run on July 6, 1975 at Belmont Park. It was to be her last race.
Ruffian broke her right foreleg about 600 meters into the race.
Although every effort was made to save her, the great filly was euthanized the next day.
Ruffian was buried in the Belmont Park infield, her nose pointed at the finish line.

This video was made using real footage of her races (over 30 years old), pictures found both online and in my many books about her and the original music from the ESPN movie about her, written by Lawrence Shragge.

I do not show footage of Ruffian breaking down, however I do use the audio from the race announcer and pictures of the horse after her breakdown, which could be seen as disturbing. But sadly, they are a part of Ruffian's life and history.

If you are a fan of this filly, try to pick up ESPN's dvd. Not only does it have the excellent film but also her entire race history and several documentaries.
