LTER Portugal - The Mira, Mondego & Minho Estuaries (with EN subtitles)

This is the video presentation of the LTsER platform Estuaries.

Portugal is renowned for its privileged coastline washed by the Atlantic Ocean, which is, for many rivers, their final destination.
This meeting between river and sea gives rise to estuaries, one of the most productive and biodiverse ecosystems on the planet.
However, this richness is threatened by a series of external factors. The research and long-term monitoring carried out by the LTER Estuaries team together with the population ensures the protection of the natural and socio-economic values of these important ecosystems.
