La Selva de Irati es el segundo hayedo-abetal más extenso y mejor conservado de Europa, después de la Selva Negra de Alemania. Una inmensa mancha verde de unas 17.000 hectáreas que se mantiene en estado casi virgen.
Se encuentra situada en el Pirineo oriental navarro, en una cuenca rodeada por montañas (Ori, Abodi…), en la cabecera de los pirenaicos valles de Aezkoa y Salazar.
La Selva de Irati es un tesoro natural con gran valor ecológico en el que conviven distintas figuras de protección como las reservas naturales de Mendilatz y Tristuibartea y la reserva integral de Lizardoia. Tupidos hayedos, pastizales, abetos y frescas aguas pintan un paisaje de colores vivos que se transforma con cada nueva estación.
Un bosque que te brindará multitud de sensaciones: el encuentro a solas con la naturaleza, el rumor salvaje del agua entre hayas y abetos, el frescor del río Irati o del embalse de Irabia, el sonido huidizo de los animales y de las hojas caídas en otoño, el olor a los frutos del bosque y la suavidad del manto de hierba que cubre esta joya de los Pirineos.

The Irati Forest is the second largest and best preserved beech-fir forest in Europe, after the Black Forest of Germany. An immense green patch of about 17,000 hectares that remains almost virgin.
It is located in the eastern Pyrenees of Navarra, in a basin surrounded by mountains (Ori, Abodi ...), at the head of the Pyrenean valleys of Aezkoa and Salazar.
The Irati Forest is a natural treasure with great ecological value in which different protection figures coexist such as the Mendilatz and Tristuibartea nature reserves and the Lizardoia integral reserve. Dense beech trees, pastures, fir trees and fresh waters paint a landscape of vivid colors that transforms with each new season.
A forest that will offer you a multitude of sensations: the encounter with nature alone, the wild sound of the water among beech and fir trees, the freshness of the Irati river or the Irabia reservoir, the elusive sound of animals and the fallen leaves in autumn, the smell of the fruits of the forest and the softness of the grass cover that covers this jewel of the Pyrenees.
