Clotilda: The Exhibition at the Africatown Heritage House

The Mobile County Commission and the History Museum of Mobile have created a breathtaking window into a complex but important part of our community's past. Experiencing parts of that history can be difficult and even painful, but the story of Africatown is ultimately about perseverance, community, and the triumph of the human spirit. The Heritage House does a fantastic job of capturing that complexity and presenting it in an engaging and meaningful way.

The City of Mobile is proud to support this project first envisioned by Commissioner Merceria Ludgood. History Museum Director Meg Fowler and her staff also deserve recognition for their incredible work bringing the history of Africatown to life.
