Zermatt is one of the most beautiful destinations in Switzerland, famous for its landscapes, skiing, and quaint little towns. In our opinion, you only need a few days to really soak in all that Zermatt has to offer. The city lies at the foot of the Matterhorn, the world's most iconic mountain. Know of Toberlone chocolate? That’s the mountain!

We stayed three nights in an apartment on the outside of town. It was only accessible by foot or the Gornergrat train. If you have a hard time walking, be sure you stay in the center of town.
If you do head to Zermatt for a week or more in summer, you will want to spend most of your time hiking in mountains. Our trip was mainly exploring Zermatt, with very little hiking involved.

Here are the highlights from our trip to Zermatt:

3. Hiking to Riffelsee, this is where you see the iconic lake photos with the Matterhorn in the background. Since we went up on a cloudy day, we didn’t get to experience that.
