In US news and current events today, Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, told Fox News that he would not permit his company to fact-check false or misleading statements from President Donald Trump or other politicians.

After misinformation on Facebook played a large part in the last election, Zuckerberg, Facebook, and many in Silicon Valley have still not reckoned with the role they played in the election of President Trump. And, as the President continues to call for violence and spread misleading information about election, mail-in ballots, and other crucial issues, it's clear that Facebook has no intentions to change their ways. In fact, they seem to be doubling down, as Judd Legum reports, by endorsing often-misleading right-wing media like the Daily Caller and the Daily Wire on their platform. The 1st Amendment does not apply to private corporations and the platforms they own, and whether Zuckerberg is doing it in exchange for favorable regulation, or whether he is a true believe, the fact remains that fake news and misinformation is extremely dangerous and threatens the foundation of our democracy.
