Checking out Musescore 4.4

Описание к видео Checking out Musescore 4.4

Hello and welcome back to the channel

In 2010, my wife and I were very lucky to stumble on a rehearsal by the BBC Symphony Orchestra at Gloucester Cathedral.

They where performing there to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Premier of Ralph Vaughn Williams 'Fantasia on a theme of Thomas Tallis'

The YouTube video is here, and I highly recommend that you check it out, as it's stunning!

   • Vaughan Williams  Fantasia on a theme...

I've loved this music all my life, and since hearing at Gloucester, ive become a little bit obsessed with it, trying to replicate that performance from music notation.

With Sibelius and Dorico Pro, it's now entirely possible to produce stunning mockups of your music without needing to use a DAW like Logic or Cubase at all. But it does require setting up and tweaking midi CC data to get the best out of your sample libraries.

What if you don't want to? What option is there to just write the music on staves, and hear it played back, beautifully, without any mucking about?

Well in 2024 I think its finally happened!

Today, we are checking out Musescore 4.4

I've time stamped the video as follows for you

Intro playback 00:00

Looking at the score. Portamento, and hidden dynamics 04:28

Would you like a video on setting up Sibelius with VSL? 09:10

Final playback 10:28

I used the Berlin Symphony 1st chairs and Symphony Orchestra libraries and the free MuseSounds Strings libraries.

The only effects added was the built in reverb, an instance of MuseFX reverb on the master output, and MuseFX mastering plugin on the master output,

I’d love to know what you think, so please do let me know in the comments below.

Full disclosure:

I’m not paid for these videos, and have not been given the samples and none of the links are affiliate links. All opinions are my own

Thanks so much for watching, and if you like my content, please do consider liking and subscribing to the channel as that would really help me out.

I’ll see you soon for the next one

Kindest

Paul
