Volkswagen Golf 1.5 eTSI DSG with Mild Hybrid: real-life test (fuel) :: [1001cars]

Описание к видео Volkswagen Golf 1.5 eTSI DSG with Mild Hybrid: real-life test (fuel) :: [1001cars]

The eight-generation Volkswagen Golf 8 has three engines versions with Mild Hybrid technology: 1.5 eTSI (96 kW/130HP and 110 kW/150 HP) and 1.0 eTSI (81 kW/110 HP). The 48 V Mild Hybrid system makes it possible to coast while the combustion engine has been completely switched off to save more fuel. Restarting the engine is significantly more convenient. Additionally, Golf eTSI models offer better moving-off performance thanks to electric boost. I made a 33 km trip and checked how the Mild Hybrid system works and how long I can drive with combustion engine switched off. Final fuel consumption: 4.4 l/100 km), fuel economy: 53.5 mpg US, 64.2 mpg UK. Percent of the time with combustion engine off: 24% (9:45). Longest time with engine switched off during the drive: 3:51 m:ss.

Volkswagen Golf eTSI 48 V mild hybrid drive in detail: with its relatively small cable diameters and therefore low weight of the wiring harness, it enables the transmission of high electrical power. That leads to recuperation of significantly more energy during braking. The energy stored in the 48 V lithium-ion battery supplies the 12 V vehicle electrical system and drives the 48 V belt starter generator. This belt starter generator takes on the role of the alternator and starter while simultaneously operating as a small, lightweight electric motor that instantly boosts the drive torque when moving off. The output of the generator is transferred by the belt drive. The generator also starts the combustion engine – which is switched off as much as possible while the vehicle is moving – in a barely perceptible way.
