OpenLM Server version 5 is now built with the Microsoft .NET Core framework. This means that future releases of OpenLM Server will be entirely platform-independent.

However, the biggest change that comes with version 5 is LDAP synchronization. For performance and stability reasons, this functionality has been split from the main product and is now provided as two separate components that work together: the Directory Synchronization Service (DSS for short) and the Directory Synchronization Agent (DSA for short).

The DSS is a component that can be installed either on the same machine as OpenLM Server or separately. Its function is to store the sync definitions, directory configurations and it also manages the DSAs.
