For his second video, Malik Rice chose an energetic march called "Olympic Procession" from Alfred's Piano Library, Level 4, composed and/or arranged by Willard A. Palmer et al. During the recording session, some birds were heard accompanying him from outside the room, adding a rather interesting layer to the ambience of this lively and glorious "march in the fields." (*) The 12-year old American pianist, Malik Rice, is a truly gifted musician. He began taking lessons a mere 15 months ago, yet he has already mastered all previous levels of the Alfred series, besides several other compositions. His rapid progress has been an outcome of his swift intelligence, his superb reflexes, and his rare passion for music. Quiet, thoughtful and attentive, his grasp of the subtleties of rhythm and expression are truly impressive. His interest covers a wide range of genres and styles, from the classical muic, to blues and ragtime, church music, film music, etc. He's bound to make a name for himself in the vast world of music.
