Day 21, bench testing the speed controller.
Day 17, 18, 19 & 20, re-assembling the electric golf cart motor.
Day 16, received great service from blockbustergolfcarts.com!
Day 15, retraction of complaint from episode 13 & 14.
Day 13 & 14, rebuilding the electric golf cart motor, part 2 & 3.
Day 12, more banghead moments with the FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welder).
Day 11, brushing off rust, then shooting some primer and paint.
Day 10, using a cheap tubing notcher to get "good-enough" notches.
Day 9, we tear-down the old motor, and get ready to clean it up and replace the worn parts.
On the eight day, we are confronted by math, my arch nemesis!
On the seventh day, we remove the motor from the axle housing, and open up the differential for inspection.
The sixth day ended in a rage quit. Life lesson, don't buy a U-shank jigsaw. Go with the T-shank!
On the fifth day, I received a golf cart, ripe with parts I need to complete this build! However, it had been sitting outside for over a year, and was full of rust and spiders. Not a fun day. Productive, but not fun.
The fourth day consisted of some hardcore FCAW welding, along with some grounding issues and wire feed problems! If anyone has advice on how I can get my FCAW to work better, please let me know!
The third day of work was all about tack welding. I also made one test weld. If anyone has advice on how I can get my FCAW to work better, please let me know!
The second day of work was all about miter joints and tack welding.
The first day of work on the custom off-road dune buggy was all about cutting six 21-foot pieces of pipe into 40+ small pieces of varying length. I started with a jigsaw, gave up after breaking 7 blades, and then managed to find a miter saw and specialty blade for 1/2 the price of a chopsaw. I also used my FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) for the first time, and tacked up the top planar section of the frame.
