Huawei Nova 2i is a Mid-Range Smartphone that Rivals Premium Models.After A Flagship Huawei Mate 10 SMARTPHONE maker, Huawei has released a $499 phone that is able to rival some of the most expensive devices.

A minor shortfall is a mono speaker, but it didn’t concern me too much considering I’m the polite type to always use my “Sennheiser momentum on-ear 2” headphones.

The camera is a worthy inclusion, boasting four lenses all up — two on the rear and two up front.

The main 18MP rear lens takes vibrant, sharp stills and is conjoined with a 2MP for wide aperture mode, which produces a post-process for bokeh blurring effect.

The depth of field can be modified after the photo has been taken, but it can be hit and miss with this calculation missing the mark — especially when shooting someone with a lot of messy hair like my two-year-old daughter.

Sadly the state of play with this technology goes for all phone cameras that make the adoption which comes naturally with a high-end Digital SLR camera lens. So don’t expect other phones to do any better. If you want real bokeh you need a DSLR.

Shipping with a 3840 mAh battery this little Energizer bunny will keep going and going.


Something upsetting for me is that it doesn’t support NFC technology, which means you can’t “tap n pay” with your phone.
It also doesn’t have USB-C, rather still adopting an aging micro USB connection.

Having said that, everything else overcompensates and for $A499 you can afford to buy your whole family of four one each — four phones for the same cost as one of the latest iPhone X, yes, please!
