A “blind entry” means the OCN rescuers haven’t spotted an entangled seal yet,but they head in anyway. At Cape Cross, sadly, that confidence isn’t misplaced.They knew plastic had very likely already made its mark on this group of seals - and they were right! Ghost gear, box straps, discarded fabric, and old fishing lines lie in wait, invisible until it’s too late. Every colony is the same. Every group carries the signature of human neglect. It’s a sad certainty.
