STORYLINE:
Financial leaders of the Group of Seven advanced economies are focusing on ways to fortify ever more complicated financial systems and supply chains during meetings in Japan ahead of a summit next week.

Japan's Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki cited growing use of online banking and social media as key risks to be addressed in the talks that will wrap up on Saturday.

Japan hopes to launch a partnership for building stronger supply chains.

Tensions with China, and with Russia over its war on Ukraine, loomed large on the wide horizon of issues the G-7 is tackling this year in Japan, its only Asian member.

At a meeting with Suzuki on Saturday, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said recent events like "Russia's war against Ukraine and disruptions caused by the pandemic, have made clear the importance of diversified and resilient supply chains."
