مستند سقوط فاجعه بار شهر تالقان، پس از سه ماه جنگ خونین با طالبان؛
شهر تالقان در لحظات پایانی سقوط، از چهار طرف به دست طالبان محاصره شده بود. نیروهای دولتی که به مدت بیش از سه ماه در برابر طالبان مقاومت کرده بودند، با وضعیتی پیچیده و ناامیدکننده روبه‌رو بودند. مقاومت که در هیچ شهر دیگر افغانستان به این اندازه طولانی و سنگین نبوده است.

با سقوط شهر های بزرگ از جمله هرات و غزنی، روحیه نیروهای امنیتی همچنان ضعیف تر می شد و حملات و پیشروی طالبان به شهر تالقان افزایش می یافت.

زمانی که شهرهای بزرگ چون هرات و غزنی در تاریخ ۲۱ اسد سال ۱۴۰۰ به راحتی به طالبان تسلیم داده شد، پیش روی آنها شدت گرفت. بی اعتمادی فرماندهان و نظامیان از رهبران دولت به شدت افزایش یافت و با گذشت چند روزی تاثیرات آن به در تخار رونما شد. این نیروها سنگرهای خود را در حومه‌های تالقان ترک کرده و به مرکز شهر در اطراف ریاست امنیت ملی تجمع کردند. این تجمعات نشان‌دهنده‌ی اوج هرج و مرج و ناامیدی نیروهای امنیتی بود. در نهایت نیروهای دولتی که تعداد شان نزدیک به دو هزار تن می رسیدند، از شهر تالقان به سمت ولسوالی فرخار و سپس ورسج عقب‌نشینی کردند.

With the fall of major cities such as Herat and Ghazni, the morale of the security forces continued to weaken and the attacks and advance of the Taliban on the city of Taloqan increased.

When big cities such as Herat and Ghazni easily surrendered to the Taliban, the distrust of the commanders and soldiers towards the heads of the government increased greatly and after a few days its effects were felt in Takhar. These forces left their strongholds in the outskirts of Taloqan and gathered in the center of the city around the Directorate of National Security. These gatherings showed the height of chaos and frustration of the security forces. Finally, the government forces, which numbered nearly two thousand people, retreated from Taloqan to Farkhar region and then to Varsaj.
