In this video, we cover the top 11 signs of cancer that everyone should know about. Cancer rates are on the rise and 1 in 2 of us will have to fight cancer at some point. As a doctor we have a check list of key signs and symptoms of cancer we look for from skin cancers e.g melanoma, bowel cancer, lung cancer, lymphatic cancers, ovarian cancer and less common ones like pancreatic cancer.

Some of the key cancer signs and symptoms to look out for are below:

• Melanoma/ Basal cell carcinoma/ Squamous cell cancer: ABCDE approach to skin cancers are important
• Lung cancer - cough for more than 3 weeks, shortness of breath, rib and chest pains
• Bowel cancer - changes in bowel habit, weight loss, blood in poo.
• Cancer symptoms and signs - weight loss, night sweats, lumps or swelling.
• Unexplained bleeding
• Throat/mouth cancers - unusual ulceration for more than 3 weeks, hoarsness in voice, difficulty swallowing
• New indigestion/Acid reflux if over 50s
• Unexplained bloating
• Yellow skin - no pain
