"One of my subscribers" he would say, recently commented on the "mow, blow, and go" approach, suggesting that I look down on those who engage in this type of gardening. The reality is far more nuanced. The truth is, our industry often finds itself in a race to the bottom. Some individuals, driven by necessity, purchase the cheapest equipment, poorly maintained, and rush through their work just to make ends meet.
The video below captures this sentiment well, illustrating how VFX professionals often bid to the bottom, leading to subpar results. The same holds true for gardening. A significant portion of customers seek the cheapest, fastest service without regard for quality. This is why I dislike the term "mow, blow, and go" – it perpetuates the notion of cheap, low-quality work.
Some comments, though not directly aimed at me, felt deeply personal. One remark labeled someone as snobby, but I don't believe it's snobbish to strive for excellence, to take pride in one's work, and to reflect on personal and professional achievements with satisfaction.
There were also mentions of moaning YouTubers, and while no one enjoys constant negativity, this critique resonated with me. My channel began as a means of release, a way to speak openly without expectations. It's my way of sharing my journey, my challenges, and my triumphs.
Ultimately, I believe in the value of good, honest work. I believe in nurturing our craft with integrity and dedication, and in creating something we can all be proud of.
