Session Description
Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) lowers the risk of HIV infection by more than 99%, and was FDA-approved for minors in 2018. However, uptake has limited by significant system, provider, and patient barriers. In this session, we will review PrEP’s crucial role in HIV prevention and empower providers to navigate these barriers. We will also review how Stanford’s Virtual PrEP Program for Adolescents and Young Adults can serve as a model to improve patient access to trained providers in other clinical areas.
