Ötztal Gletscherstraße is an easy ride up to the face of two different glaciers. This is a major ski resort area, with trails that go right into
Sölden. The main area is from the face of the glaciers, up on the glaciers. The size of the parking lots and the ski "lodges" show how active the area can get.

The tunnel in the video ties the Rettenbach and Tiefenbachferne areas together. The bridge at the end of the video is part of the ski route back to town.

In the valley, temperatures were in the mid- to upper 70's. The temperature dropped to the low 60's. But the tunel was the coldest part - the low 40's!

For me, the area, with empty parking lots and the looming glaciers were a little odd and just a bit eerie. I scored the music to reflect that.

I couldn't resist adding meeting up with more cows.

As a measure of climate change, the large white cover on parts of the glaciers is an attempt to keep them from melting completely. The glaciers are retreating at about 30 to 60 feet a year. That may not seem like much, but compare the face of Rettenbach glacier in this video with the view, two years before this video was shot, from Alexander
