Kilshane House & Estate, Tipperary Equestrian 2019

Kilshane House & Estate is located in South County Tipperary, a few miles east of Tipperary town. The entrance is off the Limerick to Waterford road. The estate is behind a long stone boundary wall. The gated entrance welcomes you.
The avenue to the house is half a mile long and sweeps alongside fields of grass and crosses the River Arrow and there is an ornamental lake to the left. There are mature deciduous trees in the estate and areas of woodlands.
The house is located on an elevated site with scenic views out over the surrounding countryside.
The day started misty with fog in places. It was dry and bright.
There were three types of equestrian competitions – Dressage, Showing and Jumping.
DRESSAGE. The dressage competitions took place in an arena, where the riders competed by demonstrating their riding skills.
SHOWING. The aim of the showing competitions is to demonstrate the versatility and usefulness of the horses.
Two ladies competed in the side-saddle event. Riding side saddle is making a comeback. The ladies were dressed in side saddle attire.
Jumping Horses. The horses were judged on conformation, temperament, jumping ability, manners, style, suitability and performance. Horses were ridden the riders and the judges over a course with jumps.
