Today's video will continue our look at the surveys done by the Nautilus team. Awhile back, we looked at Akagi. Last weekend, it was USS Macon. And this time, it's USS Peterson. The most modern shipwreck I've covered, to date, narrowly edging out Kursk.

(As I noted in a community post. I'm on break, these videos were premade. I'll get to the more recent surveys later)

Peterson had a largely uneventful career. A fairly typical Cold Warrior, in every sense. And even her sinking isn't that unique, in the grand scheme of things. Sunk as a target, instead of being scrapped once she was removed from service.

Few ships of this type ever get surveyed in great detail, but Peterson is a bit unique in that respect. She was not only surveyed, but she was looked at only a decade after sinking. Quite early, for such a deep wreck. As a result, she was in excellent shape, sinking damage aside.
