Announcing the next judge for the 2025 Karajia and Environment Awards for Children's Literature, Blak Douglas! 📚 🎉

Blak is a Koori artist from Western Sydney, known for his bold painting style that often comments on politics and social justice. He has received numerous accolades for his work, including most recently, the prestigious Archibald Prize in 2022.

Beyond the visual arts, Blak is a classically trained Yidaki (Didgeridoo) player with extensive experience performing for children through music and cultural shows, as well as book readings.

Blak also illustrated 'In My Blood It Runs', which won the Karajia Award in the non-fiction category last year. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the 2025 Karajia Award judging panel—bringing his deep creative insight and understanding of what it takes to create a deadly book!
