Ground-based telescopes successfully captured the rare occurrence of the planet TOI-3884b passing directly in front of "starspots". This demanding observation was key to understanding the star's cooler patches and the swift alterations driven by its rotation.

Rare Starspot-Crossing Events: The primary observation involved capturing the planet, TOI-3884b, as it crossed cooler starspots on the surface of its host star during its transit.

Stellar Characteristics: These events and months of high-cadence brightness monitoring allowed researchers to precisely determine the star's rotation period and observe rapid changes in the starspots linked to this rotation.

System Geometry Discovery: By combining the starspot and transit data, researchers were able to map the system's geometry.

Surprising Orbital Tilt: The most significant and surprising finding is that the planet's orbit is wildly tilted relative to the rotation axis (spin) of its host star.
