The Lost Art of Filmmaking Series represents Get To The Chopper's attempt to highlight examples of film language that no longer seems to appear on the radar of a majority of working filmmakers.

Here's the famous opening shot from HALLOWEEN, demonstrating John Carpenter's effective use of Steadicam (which, at the time, was still a fairly new invention) and POV to create suspense and fear and set up one capper of an ending to this long take. Almost a perfect short film in its' own right...

Like a mini-class in film school, the clips and columns cover the craft intricate blocking, camera moves, and, most specifically, the uninterrupted 'long take.'
