I haven't inclined 225 in over 20 years. "Digging in my old muscles". It's really true that muscle has memory. My goal is to rep 225 while maintaining full shoulder mobility, so it's a long, slow process at 50 years old. I want to show people that you can get back in shape-because I literally would have been crushed by this weight when I started lifting consistently again in my early 40s.
I've been listening to @RenaissancePeriodization and @athleanx a lot lately; they're helping to shape my training.
My life as a "digital professional" was taking its toll on my body. Anyone who sits in a chair all the time in front of a computer is a digital professional. It was my goal to sit in a comfy chair at a badass PC, and now they say it's as bad as smoking cigarettes. WTF.
So, in my second life, I am an anti-AI, anti-tech, strength trainer, runner, hiker, and yogi "hybrid athlete". I use training not just as a way to grow and maintain muscle, endurance, and flexibility, but also to retain overall holistic health.
Anti-tech, to me, means resisting the overreliance on apps, non-physical treatments, AI, heart-rate monitors, programs, diet plans, and similar tools. I believe all you really need is music, a way to track miles or steps, and occasionally a calorie or macro counter-plus your own intuition.
Run. Lift. Hike. Yoga.
Meat, eggs, chicken, fish, fruit, vegetables, water, coffee, tea.
Outside as often as possible.
