MV Agusta's Brutale was first introduced back in 2001 and quickly found its place in the upright sport bike market. Great handling, a triple engine and styling done by the legendary Massimo Tamburini; the Brutale has been one of Italy's shining examples of upright sport machines to date.

For the 2018 model year, MV Agusta has set out to refine one of their most popular street models, the 800 RR. Several chassis alterations were made in an effort to create an even more poised and controllable machine, aided by several electronic advancements.

The 800 RR's innovative counter-rotating crankshaft equipped engine produces a claimed 140 hp @ 12,300 rpm and 64 ft/lbs. @ 10,100 rpm, which translates into a thrilling and tractable experience, packing more than enough punch to tackle your favorite canyon roads and circuit. Due to several refinements in regards to the fueling, the 800 RR performs much better at lower speeds, making for a tame experience when need be.

Helping those of us with greedy throttle hands is the revised gearbox, equipped with a quickshift and autoblip system. Coupled with great cut-times, shifting in either direction is smooth as can be.

On paper the lengthening of the wheelbase to a hair of 55'' inches might seem like it would impact the 800 RR's handling abilities, but that could't be further from the truth. The 800 RR has a renewed sense of stability when at pace, allowing for greater confidence.

At 32.7 inches, taller riders will find the 800 RR a comfortable perch, with plenty of room for longer legs. Although for riders of an average height, they should find it to be more than adequate.
