4 Days Single-Handed to Tangier, Reedville, and Solomons on my Beneteau 281 on the Chesapeake Bay

4 days and over 160 nautical miles. The trip begins in Herring Bay traveling south 60nm to discover Tangier Island, resting just above sea level and only accessible by boat or plane. With its rustic charm and stunning landscapes Tangier Island is one of those places you have to “see for yourself” before it’s gone as it slowly succumbs to rising sea levels.

From there, it's a short sail across the bay to the lux summer playground and sleepy fishing community of Reedville Virginia. Here you can find fried oysters, hushpuppies, and cold beer along with hundreds of creeks and secluded anchorages to explore.

Heading back north in a building southerly breeze, Sea Chalet finds her stride, jibing back and forth across the bay making Solomons by sundown. The final leg starts with a sporty sail in gusty conditions that abate as we enter home waters.
