Note: The DPS shown doesn't account for additional triggers (Fire Trap of Blasting has 50% for example) and chance to throw additional traps (Swift Assembly and Trap Mastery).

Once you have Charisma allocated - Grace & Skitterbots
Once you have Eldritch Battery allocated - Grace & Skitterbots & Herald of Ash

Support Gems
1-11 - Rolling Magma - Arcane Surge - Elemental Proliferation
12-Act 6 Fire Trap - Elemental Proliferation - Combustion
Once you get a 4-Link you can add Trap and Mine Damage.
28 - Flamethrower Trap - Trap and Mine Damage - Combustion
Act 6 - Fire Trap - Ignite Proliferation - Combustion - Charged Traps (instead of Trap and Mine Damage)
Act 6 - Flamethrower Trap - Trap and Mine Damage/Combustion - Advanced Traps - Charged Traps
Once you get Fire Trap of Blasting you swap Ignite Proliferation with Trap and Mine Damage.
In Maps once you have enough critical strike chance I would swap Combustion with Trap and Mine Damage on Fire Trap. You can also use Explosive Trap of Shrapnel for clear but Fire Trap of Blasting will have better single target.

Gear Progression
Collect Transmutation Orbs for the "Added Fire Damage to Spells" craft (4 Transmutes). If using Daggers/Claws/One-Handed Swords for Whirling Blades I would craft Woe Essence that you find onto them and if they have an open Prefix you can craft the the fire damage to spells recipe onto them. Otherwise just craft Added Fire Damage to Spells onto them.

You can farm Fire Trap of Blasting in Merciless Lab but buying it from another player will probably be more efficient. Fire Trap of Blasting removes the Burning Ground effect from the Gem but has higher added Fire Damage against Burning Enemies and 50% chance to trigger an additional Time.
