DJI Phantom 3 Standard App Malfunctions

Ok Drone friends, lend me your knowledge.
My DJI Phantom 3 has been having app issues and has been getting less stick time.
It refuses to connect, stay connected and give me proper aircraft status. I either get "Remote controller signal weak" or "Image Transmission Signal weak" warnings. The entire time this happens the craft toggles between connected and disconnected.
This aircraft has so little flight time but now I can't ever get it out because I can never be sure of it's status. I also enjoy being able to see what it sees.
The firmware upgrade it needed the other day was a pain to get installed, but appears to be working. It would toggle between it having the right firmware and needing an update. It failed twice before finally working. However this issue has been present for over a month. It makes no difference if I am near other WiFi sources or out in a field or up on a mountain. The issue remains.
Other steps taken,

Uninstall/reinstall DJI GO
