Course Of The Radial Nerve Simplified - Everything You Need To Know - Dr. Nabil Ebraheim

Описание к видео Course Of The Radial Nerve Simplified - Everything You Need To Know - Dr. Nabil Ebraheim

Dr. Ebraheim’s educational animated video describes the course of the radial nerve.
The radial nerve and its branches provide motor innervation to the muscles in the back of the arm (triceps).
The radial nerve passes through the spiral groove on the posterior aspect of the humerus.
The radial nerve enters the upper arm through the spiral groove between the lateral head and the medial head of the triceps muscle.
Sensory branches:
1- Posterior cutaneous nerve of the arm.
2- Lower lateral cutaneous nerve of the arm.
After the radial nerve passes through the groove of the humerus, it then enters the anterior part of the upper arm and gives rise to the sensory branch:
1- Posterior cutaneous nerve of the forearm.
Here the radial nerve gives innervation to the muscles of the brachioradialis, the extensor carpi radialis longus and the extensor carpi radialis brevis.
At the elbow, the radial nerve split to become the posterior interosseous nerve and the superficial branch of the radial nerve.
The posterior interosseous nerve passes through the supinator muscle in the area known as “Arcade of Frohse”.
After passing through the supinator muscle, the posterior interosseous nerve enters the extensor compartment of the forearm, supplying the superficial group of extensor muscles followed by the deep group.
The radial nerve continues on as the superficial branch of the radial nerve.
The superficial branch of the radial nerve continues down into the hand where it gives sensory innervation to much of the back of the hand.
Injury to the radial nerve could be missed due to the lack of knowledge, inadequate exams, or not understanding the exam.
