Scripting Vs Programming Languages

Specific set of instructions that can be used to produce various kinds of output. Compiled to machine code and run on the hardware of the underlying Operating system. Eg. Java, Scala, C, C++, etc. Scripting languages are generally interpreted. A scripting language’s primary focus does not build the application but might provide behavior to an existing application. It can manipulate, customize and automate the facilities of an existing system. Eg. Javascript, Perl, VBScript, etc.,

Introduction and Application of Scripting Languages

Scripting languages are used in web applications. It is used in server side as well as client side. Client-side scripting languages are: JavaScript, VBScript, AJAX, jQuery etc. Server-side scripting languages are: PHP, ASP.Net, Perl, Python etc. Scripting languages are used in system administration. Eg: Shell, Perl, Python scripts etc.


PHP: Introduction & Markup Tags

Acronym for "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor“. PHP was conceived sometime in the fall of 1994 by Rasmus Lerdorf. PHP is a server-side scripting language that is embedded in HTML. It is used to manage dynamic content, databases, session tracking, even build entire e-commerce sites. PHP is a powerful tool for making dynamic and interactive Web Pages. It is integrated with a number of popular databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Sybase, Informix, and Microsoft SQL Server. PHP Syntax is C-Like. PHP scripts are executed on the server.

Form Handling with PHP

An HTML form is used to collect user input. The user input is most often sent to a server for processing. The PHP superglobals $_GET and $_POST are used to collect form-data.
