Genesis 48 records a deeply personal and prophetic moment near the end of Jacob’s life. As Israel lies sick, Joseph brings his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim, to receive their grandfather’s blessing. Jacob recalls God’s faithfulness throughout his life and formally adopts Joseph’s sons as his own, granting them a full inheritance among the tribes of Israel.

In a surprising act, Jacob crosses his hands and gives the greater blessing to Ephraim, the younger son, instead of Manasseh the firstborn. Though Joseph tries to correct him, Jacob insists showing that God’s purposes do not always follow human expectations or tradition.

This chapter highlights God’s sovereignty, generational blessing, and faith that looks beyond the present. Jacob blesses the future, trusting that God will remain with his descendants and eventually bring them back to the promised land.
