Today Schony747 is at Albury Railway Station to witness the arrival, shunting and departure of the V/Line Passenger Train from Melbourne to Albury. The station itself opened in 1881. It wasn't until 1883 that a connecting line between Wodonga on The Victorian side and Albury Station was built. This meant for the first time, passengers were able to connect with other train services on either side of the border. Passengers would change trains due to the different gauge track for both states.

The Victorian service has been locomotive hauled for well over 100 years which has also facilitated the need to turn locomotives for the return journey. In the very near future, V/Line Vlocity DMU units will take over the Albury passenger roster and shunting scenes like this will be confined to railways history as drivers will simply change ends and use the driving cab at the other end of the train.

Have a great week - Brenden S.
