See our step by step guide below for replacing an economy style bath fan with a new NuTone roomside series fan:

• Pull grill off of base, remove grill springs, and take off unit
• Unplug motor, use flat-head screw driver to pop out the motor plate
• Next pull out wiring panel and unscrew the wiring
• Outline the new unit in sharpie over existing unit and use a jab saw to cut dry wall
• After cutting the drywall, remove the economy housing out of your ceiling, there will be 2 nails/screws on either side of unit to remove, then pry out ductwork
• Use a pry bar or a screwdriver to remove the nails
• Next attach the knockout onto your home’s wiring and fold in the mounting ears on the new unit and attach the knockout late/new wiring onto the can and slide the new housing into the ceiling
• Drill new screws into the joist to attach the new housing to the ceiling, wire up the fan and the junction box to the corner of the housing
• One you’re done with wiring, slide the junction box into the grooves, and secure with a screw
• Unique feature of fan the duct for the easy duct connector which allows you to hook up your ductwork from the roomside
• Pull ductwork through the housing, slide the new duct in, and tape
• Slide in the new motor and plug it into the junction box and secure it with screws on either side
• Finally, to attach the new grill, squeeze the springs into the channel on both sides and the grill will snap into place
