VHS Effect in 5 Minutes or Less | After Effects Tutorial

Описание к видео VHS Effect in 5 Minutes or Less | After Effects Tutorial

I teach you how to create a VHS effect I made in a previous video.

Steps in detail:
1. Create a composition called "PLACE VIDEO HERE." Make the dimensions whatever you want, 1920 x 720, 1080, but for this video, I made it 1020 x 720. Go ahead and place your footage in here.
2. Create a composition called "Luma." Make the dimensions the same height as the first composition and the width 2x shorter. So for my video it would be 510 pixels.
3. Create a composition called "Chroma." Make the dimensions the same height as the first composition and the width 17x shorter. So for my video it would be 60 pixels.
4. Place the "PLACE VIDEO HERE" composition in both Luma and Chroma. Make sure they fit each composition's dimensions.
5. Create your last composition called "OUTPUT." This should be the original size that you want your video to be. It looks better if you decrease the frame rate to 15.
6. Place the Luma layer first, then the Chroma layer on top. Stretch these two compositions so the width is the same. Change the Chroma layer's blending mode to Color.
7. You now see the color distortion. Next, you wanna create an adjustment layer with tons of effects.
8. Add a Fast Box Blur. Blur Radius = 1.2, Iterations = 1.
9. Add an Unsharp Mask. Amount = 100, Radius = 4, Threshold = 0.
10. Add Grain. Intensity = 2, Size = 1, Softness = 1.
11. Add a Wave Warp. Wave Type = Smooth Noise, Wave Height = 1, Wave Width = 120, Wave Speed = 4, Pinning = All Edges.
12. Optional: Adjust the Hue/Saturation.

That's it, I hope I didn't make it too complicated with all the math!
