A police community support officer murdered in a quiet hamlet in Kent died from "significant head injuries", Kent Police have said, but a suspect or motive has not been identified yet.

At a press conference in Aylesham on Friday, Assistant Chief Constable Tom Richards told reporters: "We do not at this stage have any identified suspects, we are keeping all options open to us while we fully investigate the circumstances of this matter and try to understand fully what happened.

"We do not at this stage understand the motive."

Mr Richards paid tribute to the "hugely devoted, passionate" Julia James, who he described as "completely committed to serving the people of Kent".

He urged concerned people to be "aware of their surroundings", and he said officers were "considering all possible motives" for the killing of Julia James, whose body was found in Akholt Wood earlier this week.
