GROOMING STANDARDS IN THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY – WOMEN
Hair should be neat, well styled and should appear professional
1.Short / shoulder length hair should be trimmed regularly.
2.Hair, which is of shoulder length, should be neatly pinned to keep away from face.
3.No colored / plastic bands to be used.
4.Hair should be neatly combed and in place at all times.
5.Hair should be clean and free of oil, should be non-greasy and free from dandruff.
Streaking of hair and using hair gel is not permitted.
Don’t permed and curly hair should be kept neat and restrained.
Ponytails braids, French braids should not exceed nine inches in length.
Hair longer than shoulder length should be cut to even
length, straight and tied up at the of the nape.
The bun must be secured at the back of the head or slightly above the nape with a black net.
Fingernails should be well-maintained and clean
Nails should be neatly cut, shaped and clean.
Excessively long nails are not allowed.
Only light and neutral colors of nail polish are allowed.
When applied, nail polish should cover the entire nail with no gaps or chips visible.
Nails should not be chewed
Jewellery on hands should be conservative and elegant
Only two rings are permitted, one on each hand.
Rings should be sober and conservative and not too large.
Watches should not be flashy or too large and should be conservative.
Leather straps should either be black, brown or tan, metallic straps should be gold or silver.
Proper footwear must be worn at all times.
 Closed shoes and sandals of either black or brown leather are permitted.
 Shoes should always be well-polished and in good repair.
 Flat shoes are not permitted; there should be a minimum heel of half inch.
 Toe nails should be short and maintained clean.
 Nail polish should match the finger nail polish and should not be cracked

Jewellery should be conservative and elegant
Dangling or large size and flashy earrings are not permitted.
Only one set of earrings is permitted.
Two thin bangles are permitted, either of gold or silver.
One thin chain is permitted; either of gold or silver.
Only a small nose stud is permitted.
Make up should not be excessive and should be relevant to business environment
Simple and basic makeup is mandatory.
A foundation should be used to avoid an oily look.
Lipstick should be matte finish, sober, and should match the uniform color.
Eye shadow should be thin, straight and applied neatly.
Bindis should be small, round or tear shaped, single shade of sober color that matches the uniform.
Uniform should be immaculate
Uniform should be smooth, clean, without creases and stains.
Stockings should be black or in colored, and should not have ladders, tears or holes.
Saris should be pinned neatly.
Blouses should have a high neck and back, and sleeves up to the elbow.
Wherever pins are used, these should not be visible.
Saris are to be worn as per the laid down specifications.
The sari should be worn so as to ensure that the navel is not visible.
Pens, keys, and mobile phones when carried should not be visible .
Nametags should be shining and prominently displayed.
Perfumes and deodorants should be mild and used sparingly.
Legs and hands should be regularly waxed.
Routine hygiene should be followed to avoid body odour.
Facial hair to be removed or bleached as appropriates.
Teeth should be stain –free and should not emit bad breath.
