A 53-year-old Cleveland man was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly stealing an ambulance from Marymount Hospital and crashing it in the hospital parking lot, according to the Garfield Heights Police Department.

The incident happened shortly after 10 a.m. on Nov. 30. Officers from Garfield Heights responded to assist Cleveland Clinic Police after the ambulance crash near the emergency room.

According to police, the man attempted to flee the lot in a Midwest Medical ambulance but struck a light pole, disabling the vehicle.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody by Cleveland Clinic Police.
