62-Year-Old Woman Shot Dead in Garhshankar | Former SI’s Wife Murdered in Hoshiarpur Village
A shocking incident has surfaced from Mahindwani Gujran village in Garhshankar, Hoshiarpur, where a 62-year-old woman was brutally shot dead by unidentified assailants, sending shockwaves across the area.
According to information, the deceased has been identified as Rachna, wife of Sham Lal, a resident of Mahindwani Gujran. She was returning home after paying respects at a religious place when unknown persons opened fire, hitting her with three gunshots. She was rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to her injuries on the way.
The incident has raised serious concerns as the victim’s husband Sham Lal is a retired Sub-Inspector, who retired from police service two years ago. The motive behind the murder is still unclear, and the attackers fled the scene after the firing.
Upon receiving the information, Parminder Singh (SPD Hoshiarpur), Daljit Singh Khakh (DSP Garhshankar), and Gagandeep Singh Sekhon (SHO Garhshankar) reached the spot and initiated an in-depth investigation from multiple angles. Police teams are examining CCTV footage, forensic evidence, and possible personal or professional links to trace the accused.
The murder has created fear and tension in the village, with locals demanding swift arrests and strict punishment for those responsible.
