In today's world, much of the news media shapes not only what we know, but also how we think - often through opinions and non- Christian worldviews rather than objective facts, i.e., "Fake news." To counteract this, KMMK is launching an innovative new program, The Thomistic Mind with Dr. Jason Reed. While the Catechism of the Catholic Church explains what the Church teaches, this new program will help listeners learn how to think as Catholics - using reason and faith together Pope Leo XIII (not the current pope) had immense admiration for St. Thomas Aquinas and played a pivotal role in restoring Thomistic philosophy within the Catholic Church, which is the "gold standard." Dr. Reed is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Divine Word Seminary in Epworth, Iowa, and chairs the Department of Theology and Philosophy. Dr. Reed also provides instruction to seminarians and deacons in the Archdiocese of Dubuque. He is an expert on St. Thomas Aquinas and brings "Thomistic Thinking" to the academic program AND our KMMK radio program - a timely antidote for our modern culture. When the prevailing worldview in mainstream media promotes post-Christian ideas - such as atheism, utilitarianism, globalism (known historically as Communism), and materialism - it is vital for us to return to our Mother, the Church, and draw on her timeless teaching, the Magisterium, as our true worldview. A reference text for the show is G.K. Chesterton's Thomas Aquinas, which many of you received at our Spring Anniversary event. (Don't worry - there will be no weekly assignments!)
