EVE Solo PVP: Max Tank Fed Navy Comet

Описание к видео EVE Solo PVP: Max Tank Fed Navy Comet

The first roughly week of testing of a Fed Navy Comet fit for max durability. It fares well against destroyers, and somewhat surprisingly also against 2x web scram kiters.

The Fed Navy Comet is a an extremely strong and popular faction frigate. According to T Sky’s excellent frigate guide (http://evefrigates.blogspot.com/), the Fed Navy Comet is both the most popular faction frigate, and also the strongest, with a win rate against other faction frigates of 66%. It’s win rate against t1 combat frigates is just under 90%, and the win rate against t1 attack frigates is a little under 95%.

It has a 3/3/4 slot layout, and with the hull bonuses it has 4 effective turrets, which are used for either short range blasters or long range rails. Typical fits would look something like:

[Federation Navy Comet, Standard Blaster]

Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Damage Control II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste

1MN Afterburner II
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler
Stasis Webifier II

Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S
[Empty High Slot]
Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S

Small Traverse Bulkhead II
Small Traverse Bulkhead II
Small Traverse Bulkhead II

Hobgoblin II x3
Warrior II x3
[Federation Navy Comet, Standard Rail]

IFFA Compact Damage Control
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

1MN Afterburner II
Fleeting Compact Stasis Webifier
Warp Scrambler II

150mm Railgun II, Federation Navy Antimatter Charge S
[Empty High slot]
150mm Railgun II, Federation Navy Antimatter Charge S

Small Transverse Bulkhead I
Small Transverse Bulkhead I
Small Hybrid Burst Aerator II

Hobgoblin II x3
Warrior II x3

Javelin Sx500
Spike Sx500
Federation Navy Antimatter Charge S x680
Federation Navy Thorium Charge x580
Nanite Repair Paste x80

It’s not so hard to meta some modules and fit either a neut or a NOS, and both flavors can do 2x tank rigs, 1x DPS, or 3x tank rigs. With only three mids, the FNC is often fighting at a range control disadvantage, but as you can see from the win rates, it has a lot going for it. Not only great damage and tank, but also having a big chunk of the tank be in hull where it can act as buffer for SAAR reps, and having the damage split between guns and drones makes it harder to mitigate.

For this video, I decided to make an FNC that is as tanky as possible, partially with the intent of fighting destroyers, and partly just to see how it performs, what it can do. The fit I am flying in the video is:

[Federation Navy Comet, Tanky Blaster FNC]

Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Damage Control II
Adaptive Nano Plating II
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste

1MN Afterburner II
Initiated Compact Warp Scrambler
Stasis Webifier II

Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S
Small Engergy Nosferatu II
Light Neutron Blaster II, Void S

Small Transverse Bulkhead II
Small Transverse Bulkhead II
Small Transverse Bulkhead II

Hobgoblin II x3
Warrior II x3

Null Sx1000
Void Sx1000
Federation Navy Antimatter Charge Sx1000
Nanite Repair Paste x72

Despite having no damage mods, this fit does 255 damage hot (because of the high base damage of blasters, and the 15 mb drone bay), and has 8.13k EHP, with another 3.83k in the reps. I suspect it will do well against t1 destroyers, but don’t know how well it will fair in other matchups. You can see the first set of test fights in the associated video.
