Alfa Romeo Tonale - in-depth preview of new baby SUV | batchreviews (James Batchelor)

Alfa Romeo hasn't exactly had much product to sell to UK buyers in recent years. With the axing of the ancient MiTO and Giulietta, Brits have only had the choice of the BMW 3 Series-rivalling Alfa Giulia and the Stelvio SUV.

Now, that's changing. The Italian brand, now controlled by Stellantis, is embarking on a journey of new products and improved quality – both for its cars and the customer experience its dealers provide.

The Tonale, named after another Italian mountain pass, is its new SUV and is the first in a product blitz. By 2024, Alfa will have launched its first electric car and just three years later it'll be come a car brand only selling electrified cars.
