Описание к видео More Than Half a Million Catholics Left the Church in Germany in 2022 | EWTN News Nightly

More than half a million baptized Catholics left the Church in Germany last year. The number is nearly double of the 270,000 who left the Church in 2020. There are nearly 21 million people in Germany who officially identify as Catholic. Vatican Correspondent for CNA Deutsch, Rudolf Gehrig, joins to explain why the number of people leaving the Church has nearly doubled since 2020 and how statistically significant that 500,000 number is. He shares whether other Christian denominations are experiencing similar effects. Gehrig discusses how Church leaders in Germany are reacting to these numbers and whether anything is being done. He tells us whether there is any good news in this report from Germany. On another note, on Friday we are expecting the Vatican to release the participants in the upcoming Synod on Synodality. Gehrig fills us in on what more he can tell us.
