Iridium Spark Plug Upgrade for FZ6 + Tips for Installation

Описание к видео Iridium Spark Plug Upgrade for FZ6 + Tips for Installation

In this video I will be going over my switch from the standard copper/nickel OEM CR9EK spark plug to the more technologically advanced iridium CR9EIX spark plug. I have heard good things about these spark plugs and since this bike was new back in 2008 ~ish people have been installing this plug to improve spark plug longevity with an iridium electrode which is a harder material and therefore can withstand more arcs without degradation.

I initially thought my spark plugs had begun to misfire after about 8000 km's but it turns out there was more behind the misfire than bad spark plugs. After riding the bike on the new iridium plugs I can say the bike felt smooth and normal at idle just like the CR9EK (original) plugs. I still have a misfire to chase down though so more videos coming on that soon.

The plug I upgraded to is a NGK CR9EIX - I left the spark plug gapped to what it comes with out of the box (0.031"). Recommended gap for the CR9EK (stock) plugs is 0.024-0.028" but since this is an entirely new plug I thought I would try it out with the standard gap.
